Skin Secrets Live: How I Edit Creamy, Natural Newborn Skin in Lightroom

A free live Lightroom masterclass for newborn photographers who want softer, cleaner and more natural-looking skin tones in their edits.

Join me live on Tuesday 9th June at 7pm BST

(recording included if you can't attend live)

Newborn skin can be SO tricky to get right

One minute it’s too pink, then it’s too yellow, then the baby is a totally different colour to the parents, the background is too grey and suddenly you've been editing the same image for 40 minutes and you've made absolutely no progress!

In this free live masterclass, I’ll walk you through exactly how I approach newborn skin in Lightroom.

I’ll show you what I look for before I start editing, how I correct tricky tones like pink skin, yellow skin, jaundice, uneven shadows and dull skin, and how I use my brand new Skin Secrets Preset Pack to create soft, creamy, true-to-life edits without spending forever on every single image.

During the live masterclass I’ll be covering:

  • How I look at newborn skin before I start editing
  • How I correct pink, yellow, jaundice and uneven skin tones
  • How I keep skin looking soft without making it look fake or over-smoothed
  • How I use AI masks to speed up my workflow
  • How I lift backgrounds, soften shadows and add those little finishing touches
  • How I use the Skin Secrets Preset Pack in a real newborn edit

Join me live on Zoom at 7pm BST on Tuesday 9th June.

Can't make it live? No worries, you'll get a copy of the recording to watch back.

HEY, I'M SUZI

I’m a newborn and motherhood photographer and I’ve been editing for over 15 years.

I studied photography at university, but was self taught in Photoshop as a teenager and a huge amount of what I know about editing has come from years of actually doing it. Sitting with full galleries, figuring out why skin looks a bit too pink or too yellow, working out why one image feels creamy and another one feels a bit flat and slowly building a way of editing that can be repeated during every photoshoot.

I also spent three years working for a professional photo editor which taught me so much about looking at images properly. Not just thinking “that looks nice”, but noticing the light, the colour, the skin, the shadows, the background and all those tiny little details that make an edit feel complete without ruining the quality of an image.

And newborn skin is one of those things I’ve become weirdly obsessed with over the years, because it can be so delicate and so changeable. Sometimes it’s pink, sometimes it’s yellow, sometimes it feels a bit washed out, often you're just not sure how to balance everyone's skin tones.

So in this masterclass, I’m going to show you how I approach all of that. What I look for before I start editing, what I adjust first, how I keep skin looking soft without making it look fake and how I use my new Skin Secrets Preset Pack to make the whole process feel quicker, so that you're no longer just changing random sliders and hoping it will make the difference you're looking for.
